Sponsors and timing
This website was created as part of the research project Munich Open-access Cuneiform Corpus Initiative (MOCCI) [https://www.en.ag.geschichte.uni-muenchen.de/chairs/chair_radner/research_radner/mocci_en/index.html], whose funding is provided by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (through the establishment of the Alexander von Humboldt Chair for Ancient History of the Near and Middle East [http://www.ag.geschichte.uni-muenchen.de/lehrstuehle/ls_radner/index.html]) and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Historisches Seminar - Abteilung Alte Geschichte). The project began in late 2016 and Phase 1 of the website has been available since late 2018. The ARIo Project is intended to be the cyber sibling of the Royal Inscriptions of Babylonia online [http://oracc.museum.upenn.edu/ribo/]'s Babylon 8 [http://oracc.museum.upenn.edu/ribo/babylon8/index.html] (The Inscriptions of Cyrus II and His Successors) Project. Because not all texts are currently available in reliable corpora, ARIo is envisioned as a long-term endeavor. The aim of Phase 1 is to provide a text version for every inscription in the corpus, defaulting to the Old Persian version where available. The project's foundation is the editio minor of Rüdiger Schmitt (2009), supplemented with material provided by Matt Stolper for Persepolis. There is still much work to do and finish before we have reached our primary objects and, therefore, we ask you to be patient with us as we expand, improve, and refine our content.
