Other areas of Nineveh

Review Palace, Nebi Yunus

The archives from the ekal masharti ("Review Palace") contained a mix of administrative, legal and omen texts and others.

Area SH

Mainly prism and cylinder fragments. It has been suggested that this area may have been a scriptorium. Also stone and clay hieroglyphic Hittite tablets seem to have come from here. The site has been understood as the "house of Ashur-shum-ushabshi", son of Sennacherib. See further Thompson and Hutchinson (1929) pp. 83-84, Hawkins (2000) pp. 566-567.

House of Ninurta-sharra-usur

Legal archives dating 669-615 found in jar. Ninurta-sharra-usur was probably a son of Ashurbanipal. Published in TIM 11 4-48

Area 59 archive

Two contracts, dated c. 636, 623. Published in TIM 11 3, 6-11
