1The reconstruction [me]-a-am was first proposed by Wilcke AS 20, 303, suggesting that the Emesal word means "shepherd" (see also Volk FAOS 18, 171) BE 31, 46 r ii 2' (Sövegjártó, Dubsar 18 268; Sefati Studies Klein 274-275) has the gloss ra-i-ma = "beloved" (correct CAD R, 304). The ES Vocabulary entry may have confused two similar Akkadian words, or "shepherd" (in the Sumerian and Akkadian columns) is to be taken as a metaphoric expression.
