About Royal Lexicography

Royal Lexicography is a sub-project of the Digital Corpus of Cuneiform Lexical Texts, directed by Niek Veldhuis (PI). Royal Lexicography publishes editions and translations of all cuneiform lexical texts (word lists and sign lists) that were excavated in the royal residence at Nineveh, mostly dating to the seventh century BCE.

Royal Lexicography is a member-project of the Open Richly Annotated Cuneiform Corpus (ORACC) consortium and utilizes the tools and standards developed for ORACC by Steve Tinney.

The project received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the years 2009-2012 and from the Archaeological Research Facility of the University of California at Berkeley for the year 2011. The project is now maintained by the Digital Corpus of Cuneiform Lexical Texts team.
