PEO: Oracc Linguistic Annotation for Old Persian

This document provides an overview of language-specific annotation conventions for Old Persian used in Oracc.

Transliteration

Old Persian is indicated by the language shift %peo; following this language shift, the ATF processor reads Old Persian transliterated as a sequence of graphemes joined by hyphens as with other graphemic input.

To write in transcription, use the convention for 'normalized' input, as in Akkadian: i.e., follow the language shift with /n.

Graphemic

The following table shows how to transliterate Old Persian graphemically; the table contains Old Persian cuneiform in the first column, so you may need to install a suitable font, such as George Douros's "Aegean".
