OSL Signlist

This Oracc signlist provides a simple lookup to find the sign-pages; from the sign-pages you can find homophones for values, compounds in which signs occur, and other information depending on the project configuration.

The Lookup Bar

The lookup bar allows you to find sign-pages by typing values or signnames. You can type in upper or lower case, but the lookup table only uses lower case, so you don't need to use upper case at all to find sign-pages.

Signs can be given in unicode transliteration or in a simplified transliteration using the following correspondences:

sz or cš
s, or f
ssś
h
jŋ
t, or v
'ʾ
*×

Looking up Compounds

Compound signs are simplified when they are turned into lookup table keys. Compound signs in the lookup bar do not need to be in pipes--you can search for ka*nun rather than |KA×NUN| (though the latter also works, which can be useful if you are cutting and pasting).

Three special conventions are defined for looking up compounds:

*SIGN
A lookup key starting with an asterisk, e.g., *nun, shows the selection page for signs where the key is contained by another sign (like NUN in |KA×NUN|).
SIGN*
A lookup key ending with an asterisk, e.g., ka*, shows the selection page for signs where the key is container for other signs (like KA in |KA×NUN|).
*SIGN*
A lookup key beginning and ending with an asterisk, e.g., *ka*, shows the selection page for any compounds that include the sign.

Homophone Lookup Short-cut

The lookup bar provides a shortcut to the homophones pages by looking for a value with a 0 index, e.g., gu0 (or gu₀). If there is only one value with the base the sign-page is loaded; if there are multiple values with the base the homophone selection page for the base is loaded.

Punctuation Marks

Punctuation marks (if they occur in this signlist) can be listed with 'p0'.
