(1) Ashurnasirpal (II), king of Assyria, great king, strong king, unrivalled king of the world, king of all the four quarters, sun(god) of all people, strong king, chosen of the gods Enlil and Ninurta, trampler of all [(his) enemies], who breaks open high mountains the distant regions of which no one had ever traversed, strong [male] who treads upon the necks of his foes, who destroys his enemies, who destroys the fortifications of his enemies,

(5) [subduer of those] insubordinate to him, receiver of tribute and tax from the four quarters, capturer of [hostages, he who] is victorious over all of the rulers of the (four) quarters (of the world), son of Tukultī-Ninurta (II), strong king, king of Assyria, son of Adad-nārārī (II), (who was) [also] strong king (and) king of Assyria; [valiant man] who acts with the support of the deities Aššur, Adad, Ištar, (and) Ninurta, the gods who support him, and has no rival among the rulers of the four quarters (of the world); the strong king who has conquered from the opposite bank of the Tigris River [to Mount Leban]on and the Great Sea of the land Amurru [in the west, the land Ḫatti in] its [entire]ty. I have gained dominion over the entire (region)] from the source of the Subnat River to the interior of the land Nirbu, the wide Naʾiri lands.

(10) I conquered the land Lāqê, i[n] its entirety. I have subdued the land Sūḫu, including Ra[piqu]. I conquered (the territory stretching) from the [passes] of the land Ḫabruri to the land Gilzānu, [from the pass] of the city Babitu to the land Ḫašmar, the entire [land Zamua]. I have regarded as within the boundaries of my land (the territory stretching) from the opposite bank of the Lower Zab to Tīl-[bāri, which is upstream from the land Zabban, to Tīl-ša-Zabdā]ni and Tīl-[ša-A]btāni, the cities Ḫirimmu and Ḫarutu, (which are) fortresses of Karduniaš (Babylonia). I regularly appointed governors of mine in the lands [and mountains] over which I gained dominion. They did did obeisance (to me) (and) I [imposed upon them] tribute (and) tax.

(14b) At that time, (as for) the temple of the goddess Ištar of N[ineveh], whose dilapidated section(s) [Aš]šur-uballiṭ (I), king of Assyria, a ruler who had come before me, had renovated, that temple had become dilapidated and (the whole area) from opposite the bīt-natḫi as far as [...] had become dilapidated and was in ruins. I delineated its area (and) [reached its] founda[tion pit]. I built (and) completed (it) [from] its [foundatio]ns to its crenellations (and) decorated (it) more splendidly than before. I wrote out my commemorative inscription (and) deposited (it) inside (it).

(17b) May a future [ruler] restore its dilapidated section(s) (and) [return] my inscribed name to its place. The goddess Ištar, lady of Nineveh, will (then) listen to his prayers. May she make him achieve success in wars with kings on the battlefield.

(18b) As for the one who removes my inscriptions and my name, may the goddess Ištar, the great lady, take away from him his throne, (and) may she make him sit in bondage before his enemies.
