(4) Erišum (I), vice-regent of Aššur: I [built] the holy [Step] Gate, (and) the chapel [for] my lord. I built a [high] throne (and) adorned the front of it with a precious stone (ḫušāru). I installed (its) doors.

(8b) With (the god) Aššur, my lord, standing by me, I reserved land for (the god) Aššur, my lord, from the Sheep Gate to the People’s Gate. I built all of the temple area.

(12b) I built two beer vats, twins [...]. I placed two duck figures, each (weighing) one talent, by them. I overlaid (the) two moons with bronze. I set [...] ornaments, each (weighing) one talent, upon them.

(16b) The name of the temple is “Wild Bull”; the name of the [door] is “Protective Goddess”; the name of the lock is “Be Strong!”; (and) the name of the threshold is “Be Alert!”

(19b) If (that) temple becomes dilapidated and a king who is just like me builds (that) temple, (that king) should not disturb the clay cone that I drove in(to the temple’s wall). May he return (it) to its place.

(23b) (As for) the one who would mash beer in the house of the twin (beer vats), may the gods Aššur, Adad, and Bēl, my god, destroy his seed.

(26) Mēšarum (“Justice”), Išme-karāb (“He Heard the Prayer”), Ṣê-raggu (“Get Out, Criminal!”), Ulli-mēšaram (“He Extolled Justice”), Ašur-ḫablam (“Watch over the Downtrodden!”), Pûšu-kēn (“His Speech Is Upright”), and Išmēlum (“God has Heard”): In total, seven judges of the Step Gate.

(30b) Erišum (I), vice-regent of (the god) Aššur: [I con]stantly [...] and (thus) the gods Aššur, [Adad, and Bēl, my god, the] ... of [my] city [...]. May [justice] be established in [my] city [...] ... [...].

(35) (The god) Aššur (is) the king (and) Erišum (is his) overseer. [(The god) Ašš]ur (is like) reed swamps that cannot be traversed, terrain that cannot be trodden upon, (and) canals that cannot be crossed.

(39) (As for) the one who lies (lit. “talks too much”) in the Step Gate, the demon of ruins will seize his mouth and his hindquarters (and) smash his head like a shattered pot; (and) he will fall like a broken reed and water will flow from his mouth.

(44b) (As for) the one who lies (lit. “talks too much”) in the Step Gate, his house will become a house of ruin. (As for) the one who rises to give false testimony, may the [seven] judges who decide legal cases in [the Step Gate give a false] decision [against him; (and) may the gods Aššur], Adad, and Bēl, [my god, destroy his seed (and) may they not give to him a place [...].

(53) [(As for) the one who ...] ... obeys me, [when he goes] to the Step Gate [may he retain] a palace deputy, [may ...] the witnesses and adversary (in the court), [(and) may] the judges [take the bench] and give a proper decision [before (the god) Ašš]ur.

(59) The place of th(is) clay nail ... among them good conduct [...] and they do not blaspheme against the god [...] be established [...] by his protective goddess [...]. May [the gods Aššu]r, [Adad, and] Bēl, my god, give him [sword], bow, (and) shield.
