Bāzāyu was the fifty-second ruler of Aššur according to the Assyrian King List [/riao/kinglists/assyriankinglist/index.html] (AKL). That text also records that he sat on the throne for twenty-eight years and was the son of Bēlu-bāni. If this proves correct, then he succeeded his great-nephew Iptar-Sîn. Bāzāyu was immediately followed by Lullāyu, "a son of a nobody," thus briefly interrupting the Bēlu-bāni [/riao/kinglists/assyriankinglist/index.html#Section5-7] family's control of the Assyrian throne.
