Nearly thirty clay cone fragments from Nineveh are inscribed with a building inscription of Aššur-rēša-iši I recording the renovation of the Ištar temple in that city. The Assyrian king states that the temple had been severely damaged by two earthquakes, one in the reign of Shalmaneser I and one during the time of Aššur-dān I. Most of the pieces are housed in the British Museum (London).

A brick with a proprietary label of Aššur-rēša-iši I was discovered by Seton Lloyd at Apqu-ša-Adad (modern Tell Abu Marya) in the 1930s. The object, whose current location is not known, once belonged to a palace in that provincial city.
