1Text no. 59 does not contain Sennacherib’s epithet e-piš ṣa-lam AN.ŠÁR ù DINGIR.MEŠ GAL.MEŠ, “the one who made the statues of the god Aššur and the great gods.”

2Text no. 59 does not contain the epithet muš-te--ú áš-rat da-šur₄ ù dNIN.LÍL, “who is assiduous towards the shrines of the god Aššur and the goddess Mullissu.”

3From context, na-ṣir and sa-kip must be infinitives in the status constructus, although the expected forms would be naṣār and sakāp; this was noted already by Borger (Asarh. p. 7). One or both of these forms are attested also, for example, in text nos. 59 (ii 17 and 19), 104 (vi 32; =Babylon A), 105 (viii 38; =Babylon C), 106 (v 13; = Babylon E), and 111 (vii 5´), as well as in the inscriptions of Ashurbanipal (for example, Borger, BIWA p. 15 Prism F i 14 and Prism A i 20). Because CVC-signs could have any vowel, one would be inclined to read these as na-ṣàr and sa-kapₓ. However, these values are, at present, not commonly attested or accepted phonetic values in Neo-Assyrian sources and therefore I have retained the values ṣir and kip for the MUŠ and KIB signs respectively, since these are commonly known and accepted. Note that the phonetic value ṣàr for the MUŠ sign is attested only in Nuzi texts (von Soden and Röllig, Das akkadische Syllabar4 p. 14*).
