URU.pa?-za-ši URU.ḪAL.ṢU šá KUR.man-na-a-a1

(1) The city Pazaši, a fortress of the land Mannea which is (located) in front of the p[a]ss (leading) to the land Zikirtu.

22

šá IGI -[re]-bi šá KUR*.zi-kir-ta-a-a2

1pa?-: E. Flandin’s copy and P.E. Botta’s copy (Monument de Ninive 2 pl. 145 and 4 pl. 180c respectively) have -IZ; the photo of the squeeze is unclear, but might suggest -PI. H. Winckler’s copy (Sar. 2 pl. 49 no. 2l) indicates for the beginning of the line URU IZ? ḪA? ME GUR ḪAL.ṢU .... The missing horizontal wedge on Flandin’s -ŠI is indicated as being present on Botta’s copy and the squeeze would also suggest -ŠI, rather than -ME for the fourth sign.

2For the beginning of the line, following the URU, H. Winckler’s copy has ki-bi, while his transliteration has “Ki-?-bi” (Sar. 1 p. 191 and 2 pl. 49 no. 2l). The photo of the squeeze would suggest šá IGI? -[re]-bi. KUR*: E. Flandin’s copy has ŠE, while P.E. Botta’s copy and H. Winckler’s copy both have KUR; the squeeze is not clear about the matter.
