A Fragment of a Synchronistic King List (VAT 11262)

VAT11262

This fragment of a clay tablet bears part of a list with a format similar to the Synchronistic King List Ass 14616 c, although in this case the Babylonian royal names, which are now completely missing, were probably inscribed on the left side of the tablet. LIke VAT 11338, this list's synchronisms were probably oriented towards the Babylonian kings.

The preserved portion of the list of Assyrian kings begins with Enlil-nāṣir II [/riao/ria1/oldassyrianperiod/mittanianhegemony/enlilnasirii/index.html] (1420–1415 BC) and ends with Arik-dīn-ili [/riao/ria1/kingdomofassyria/arikdinili/index.html] (1317-1306 BC). Therefore this text fits into the lacuna left at the beginning of column II of Ass 14616 c.
